What's a little oily gas for a slim figure

I was looking into the new ALLI weight loss pill that is the first FDA approved over the counter weight loss pill. It is supposed to be a big break through and people lose tons...but it doesn't come without it's price.

Here is the part of the warning:

*alli capsules work by preventing the absorption of some of the fat you eat. The fat passes out of your body so you may have bowel changes.

You may get:
*gas with oily spotting
*loose stools
*more frequent stools that may be hard to control

eating a low-fat diet lowers the chance of having these bowel changes

The ALLI book also warns "You may feel an urgent need to go to the bathroom. Until you have a sense of any treatment effects, it's probably a smart idea to wear dark pants, and bring a change of clothes with you to work." ...you know, just in case you shit yourself.

Sounds like the weightloss plan for me.

I would have a problem taking a product that prevents fat absorption because fat soluble vitamins depend on fat in the diet to benefit one's body.
I have lost over 15 pounds since last December simply by watching my carb intake. Other than saturated fats, I pay no attention to the fat in my food.
But, I do watch my carbohydrate intake, especially "empty" carbs. Our bodies convert carbohydrates to fat if they are not "burned off" during our daily activity.
And, unless you are doing something like the Atkins diet, calorie intake does count. For example, if you consume 350 calories more a day than your body needs to maintain weight, you have consumed 3,500 more calories than your body requires in just 10 days. That's another pound of weight on your body my dear. Even if it's only 35 extra calories a day, that is an additional pound every 100 days. (yes .. I'm a math whiz)
Are you nursing your baby? I would be concerned about that, too, if I were you. I realize my advice is unsolicited, but I'm just concerned about your and your baby's overall health.

I am nursing. I was only exploring options for when I stop nursing. Right now I am trying to watch what I eat and drink. I went out for my anniversary and did the pump and dump manuever. If you drink too much, you pump it out and dump it down the drain so my tater tot doesn't drink it.

You are so sweet to think of that ... :)

A diet where you are likely to "shit yourself."

That sounds like a lot of fun.

I was looking into this pill as well... I wonder if it really works? Not that I want to shit my pants but I guess I would do whatever it takes to be skinny again! I took phen phen years ago and lost 30 lbs on it! Wish I could do that again... that is exactly what I have gained back!

EWWWW!!! I wonder how many people will take the pill without reading the book's warnings and walk around with shitty "oily spots". I guess the FDA doesn't approve the use of treadmills....

I had heard this, too, and it made me sad. When I first heard about the product I thought "Wow, maybe..." then I heard about the anal oil spills and decided I'd rather be described as "that chubby girl" than "that girl who shit herself"
