I don't know much about the Public Service Commission, and how electric companies were capped. But recently the rate caps expired and according to an announcement put out by the Public Service Commission, BGE customers in Maryland can expect a 72% annual increase on their electric bill. Alleghany customers, who I have, can expect a 39% increase. (If you can help me make better sense...please tell me)
Alleghany sent out a bill stating that we no longer have to choose them as our electric supplier but that they would only be increasing their rates half of what BGE is... I thought, gee thank you. It's like they know people need electric, they have to pay for it no matter what...so let's increase it. Same with gas prices, same with health care. I wonder how many people are getting annual raises to cover the cost of living going up. Me, I haven't had one in 3 years.
Thank you O'Malley for keeping your promise to prevent the rate caps from increasing. Typical Democrat promise. Typical...hurting the people you promise to help. But I guess it doesn't put a ding in your wallet, does it?

72 %....OUCH!!!
Hey...no more C.M.!!!
I did that for you Nic!!!
Actually, I thought about the flow of conversation comment at your place. I thought it was a good point. Plus everyone has been civil here lately. So no real need to have it.
If you ever have to delete a comment, at the bottom lefthand side of the comment is a little funky icon, kinda looks like something from Roman times...you just click on that and can delete any comment.
Wow...first E.Craig and now you.... :)
To eliminate the potential of troll comments, don't allow anonymouses...then the poster has to be logged in and usually think twice about what they say.
What'a a rate cap? They don't have here, the energy companies charge what they want.
As to Democrat promises...those are politician's promises and it don't matter what stripe they are honey, they all lie thru their assholes.
Sorry to hear about your utility issues. It's amazing how those folks can just keep increasing rates without any supervision.
No, no, no, you're wrong. This isn't a typical Democrat promise. This is a typical politician promise ;)
I'm afraid woozie got it right. I've heard a lot of political assurances over the years from both sides of the aisle. I've yet to see any politicians extend their little fingers and exclaim, "pinky promise!"

Damn, you get rid of the CM and the spammer came right away!
I think its safe to say that all these utility companies are banking on the fact that we NEED utilities to maintain life. Considering they're sleeping in the same bed with the politicians who enacted laws to allow these outrageous rate hikes, we're all screwed.
