Dreaming...dreaming ... dreaming...

In connection with Nic's Post about love, I was sitting here dreaming, if only I didn't have to work and me and hubby could spend all the time in the world together and raise our children with no worries. The jackpots here go well over 205 million. Even if we saw half of that after taxes, we would be sitting pretty. What would I do with 102.5 million dollars????

1st I would have a modest house built out in the country. Then I would pay off all our debt. I would pay off our parents homes. Set up funds for our children's future and pay for my brother's college expenses. I would probably buy a small house for my step-mother and real father. I would definatly give a ton to cancer charities. I would have an art studio built for my husband. I would built a ranch on my home for misplaced animals facing death row in the local shelters. I would definately hire a maid for my modest house...(not too big of a house cuz that is a waste of space). I would buy a house in a vacation spot. I would invest a large portion of the money for our future. I would raise my children until they went to school and then either open my own restaurant or daycare. My biggest splurge...I would want a mustang (1967) and a new family vehicle, hubby would want a truck. After that ...I dunno. I have always been humble when it comes to money. I would probably set up something for my nieces and nephews.

What would you do?

Ellie, I wouldn't need 100 million..I could be very happy with just 1 million!!! lol

the bad thing with winning money, is I think you would lose trust in others...you would always second guess if they wanted to be around you for YOU, or the moohlah....

sometimes I think just being our working class selves is for the best...keeps you honest!!! :)
plus I know my friends love me for me...and not the money I have or don't have.

well I wouldn't look a million gift horse in the mouth either!!! But wouldn't be as much to go around.

Nicole's right. You would find that you have many more "friends" (especially "friends in need") than you ever imagined.

But, I would do a lot of the stuff you said. Take care of family. I probably wouldn't quit working either.

See the thing is..I don't have many friends. Just the handful I have grown up with. We consider each other sisters now. I don't know that money would change me so much that I would start living a different lifestyle. I wouldn't want a mansion, but I would like a new house slightly larger than what I have. But I am not about cleaning rooms I don't even use. And I also think by sharing it with my family, I wouldn't be hounded so much. Hopefully.

It doesn't really matter. I don't play the lottery. But it would be wild if the one time I bought a ticket!!! I would definatly come out to Canada and visit a buddy of mine!

RWA I think work keeps you humble. Maybe you could take your old night club gig back up. Work doing something you love vs something you have to do...that is what I would do!

I've often thought of this too... well more like dreamt...

I would invest a HUGE portion and not touch it... it could be passed on through the generations... starting with my kids... I would obviously do the "usual" cars, house, vacation spot, help the family, charities... **cancer as well Ellie ;)** but I'd invest so much of it, I could easily live off the interest! Hubby and I wouldn't necessarily not work for the rest of our lives, but simply do something for ourselves and make all the money, instead of making the money for "someone else"

I'd definately travel the world, I know that... I'd start with Europe!

But not only the " are people into you or your money question " I've heard horror stories of people having to move away, far away to get away from people who saw their names posted in the paper as the big winners because some people will hound the shit out of you... complete strangers... and I'd worry if I won "BIG" about my childrens safety as some psycho's might use my children against me as well... Maybe pushin it, but not impossible... I want to be where no one knew me, or my financial situation :)

Those are my thoughts...

I don't know that I would fear anyone...mostly because I would still live my modest lifestyle.

I often see the houses in Potomac and wonder how anyone could live in them. Does a portion of the house remain empty? I wouldn't know what to do with a life like that. I like country living with big backyards and a sky full of stars at night, no lights from shopping malls. Simple and sweet.

I'd still live modestly, but enjoy the financial freedom at the same time... I wouldnt have to have the flashy car and the 30,000 square foot home... but I'd have a nice large home (I dont see it as a waste of space) New cars and travel... just wouldn't want people to know HOW MUCH money I had... lots of people live large but it could be all debt, could be inheritance, could be any number of reasons, and to what degree of how "well off" they are, no one would know... I'd live well, but not flashy... ya know?

I honestly would though, without a doubt if I lived anywhere near where I lived when I won... worry about my families safety... I'd rather be safe than sorry. This world is full of all kinds of nuts... I'd almost rather, altough by law I think they have to... I'd rather my name NOT be posted by the media.

Buy a late 60's/early 70's muscle car; maybe a Charger or Super Bee, go on vacation, buy a house (no mortgage), then keep the rest (this is all after college). Not very glamarous, but I like money too much to spend it :)

A super bee... I will have to look that one up! Have you ever been to that car place in rockville woozie...they only have collectible cars there. They have my 1967 elenor mustang. I cried when I touched it..... that close to perfection , sigh.

Oh, ellie, there is no doubt that I would open my own club. I would probabably be the owner and still be the doorman!!!

I would be the bartender in my own club!

I wouldn't move, I love my house. I'd do some major remodeling, though! I'd just pay off the house, and the vehicles that we have (Love those too!)and set up college funds for my kids. I'd take care of my mom and my dad, and hubby's parents and siblings. I would splurge a bit and get some horses. Arabians. I miss them. We had them when I was a kid. I'd buy a little place in the country, have my horses to ride whenever I wanted.
