What to you DIS like about the holiday's

So it tis the season! I like this cartoon a bunch! But I really dislike Eggnog no matter how much liquor you put in it.
I figure I should get out now what I dislike about the holidays..just to get it out of my system and not have to burn for blowing my temper later.
I dislike the following:
Eggnog
Fruitcake
Hunting for the perfect tree
Rude people with the bahumbug spirit in shopping centers
I dislike having to drive to my parents an hour and a half away then driving to my dad's(who is always complaining) then driving an hour to see my brothers, then and hour to my sister in laws then going home rushing to put out gifts then waking up rushing and having to drive to my mother in laws. Though I love seeing everyone, I can't stand the driving!!
It is so cold here during the winter and I can't stand cold.
I dislike feeling guilty for eating too much
But there is so much I do love....Mostly
This year is going to be so exciting waking up in our new home and watching my two year old open gifts. He has already snuck in the guest bedroom and peaked...try taking a toy from a two year old. I love the way my parents dote on him during the holidays. This will be the first year that I have with 2 new nieces in our family. This year we won't be driving 'as much' as previous years. My mother makes a stuff ham that kicks ass like nobody's business. Hubby always manages to buy me something to make me blush. I almost always get some Christmas nookie.
Our tree always looks perfect. I love watching the dogs eat thier treats from thier Christmas stockings..minus the occasional territorial growl. And I love being reminded every year that Christmas is not just about gifts, it's family, its the gift of life and love...who could not love that!

Plus....I got the best freaking Christmas gifts ever for everyone this year!! HA HA HA HO HO HO!

I dislike how fast it all goes. Every year I try to be organized, but it seems that the older my kids get, the busier we are. I cannot even believe that it is Dec 8th already.

When my kids were very young, we were pulled in all directions, just like you have been. It is very hard, and unpleasant. You want to please everybody.
Once our son turned 4 and she was 2, that Christmas morning he was sooo excited to see what Santa had brought him and we had to hurry out the door. He was soo disappointed and cried and I said THIS is the LAST time. From then on we have spent Christmas Day at home. { we always go to whomevers for the supper, but we now stay home until between 3-4 pm }
I now make a Christmas brunch served at noon sharp and anybody that wants to join us is welcome.
The kids are alot older now, but still enjoy getting to be in jammies until noon and getting to enjoy their stuff.

For some reason, opening the stockings were are favorite things to go at first, still is, for me and my sister atleast. Maybe b/c the best things come in small packages. My mom has a new tradition with us now. Michael and I do not have a sitter so very rarily we do not get to go out alone. So she buys us a night out to the theatre and dinner in a 4 star. This year we get to go see STOMP, last year we went to see Le Mis... it was so much fun.

Hopefully this year we will have another little one to celebrate. We bought Tyler a T that says "I'm the big brother" just in case. We will let him open it in front of his grandparents. Keep us in your prayers.

I always do!!

I can't wait to hear the wonderful news!!

I already know what I am sending the baby when it arrives, and I have something picked out for Tyler...it has to do with his Canadian "Auntie Nic's" FAVOURITE CFL football team!!!

Oh Nic that would be so wonderful. Maybe one day we could come out to Canada...that would be so fun!

Egg nog is nasty. So is fruitcake.

I love running into those "bah humbug" people when I do my Christmas Eve shopping. I just smile and say, "Merry Christmas!"

Sounds like something I would do RWA!

Now a little tequilla during the holidays isn't so bad...unless of course it is Christmas Eve and your brother and sister break into your secret very expensive tequilla stash that you just so happened to bring back from your honeymoon and were reserving to get druck and screw your husband with, then deciding that the two of you (borther and sister) will drink almost the entire bottle only for other sister, rightful owner of the tequilla, to find you drunk and giggling crawling around on her basement floor.

Whew...I'm not bitter :)

Okay, I found it and I published it..not sure what is going on now.

But anywho...when we found out about Tyler, we waited another month to tell my parents on Valentine's day. I wouldn't take my coat off and told my mother I was cold..but really I was showing. We bought them a Grandparent's book. At first they didn't get it. Then I took my coat off. My mother freaked out!

Wait a minute.

You brought an expensive bottle of tequila back from your honeymoon, saving it for a special occasion to get hammered and do the hibbidy dibbidy with your husband - and your brother and sister drank it?!??!?!?!?

That's messed up.

Yes.. I was just Thankful they didn't get my Cubans...I had to haggle for them bad boys, then had to smuggle them across the border, then fight off beggers!

Southern (in)Sanity said...

You brought Cuban cigars back into this country illegally?!?!??!?!

Excuse me...I need to call the local customs office.

EJL said...

Oh I am sure they won't find anything.....now.

How convenient that the evidence no longer exists...
